Gow Fields

Gow Fields is the president and CEO of Fields Insurance & Financial Group. He became a member of the Lakeland City Commission in May of 1992. He served as a commissioner until he was elected and sworn in as Mayor of Lakeland in January of 2010. He served as mayor until January 2014.

Fields is a past president of the Florida League of Mayors. He has been inducted into the Polk County Public Schools Hall of Fame and the Kathleen High School Hall of Fame. He has received the Distinguished Alumni Award for Kathleen High School and for Polk State College. He is widely recognized for his extensive experience and accomplishments in public policy creation and implementation that successfully improved transportation planning, economic development, education and workforce development.

In February of 2019, the Lakeland Chamber of Commerce recognized Fields as the 2019 recipient of the George Jenkins Award, Lakeland’s highest community service award named in honor of the founder of Publix Super Markets. Fields has served on numerous boards in Lakeland including Southeastern University, the Lakeland Chamber of Commerce, Polk State College Foundation, Polk State District Board of Trustees, and many more.
